21 Ways to Improve Your Life Without Really Trying

Looking to change your life this new year? I have curated some really good tips that you can start trying out without really trying.

  1. Set aside 10 minutes a day to do something you really enjoy.
  2. Set time limits for your apps. Just go to settings on your smartphone and add a limit. If you have an iPhone turn on Screen Time.
  3. Dry your cutlery with a cloth (it keeps it shiny).
  4. Say hello to your neighbours.
  5. Volunteer at a charity.
  6. Ask questions and actually listen to the answers.
  7. Give compliments widely and freely.
  8. Keep a book in your bag to avoid doomscrolling.
  9. Listen to the songs you loved as a teenager.
  10. Always use freshly ground pepper.
  11. Mute or leave a WhatsApp Group Chat
  12. Cook something you have never attempted before.
  13. Make a friend from a different generation.
  14. Always book an extra day off after a holiday.
  15. Switch your phone off on holiday (or at least delete your work email app).
  16. Politely decline invitations if you do not want to go.
  17. If you do go, have an exit strategy (we recommend a French exit, where you slip out unseen).
  18. Do that one thing you have been putting off.
  19. Be polite to rude strangers -it’s oddly thrilling!
  20. Go for a walk without your phone.
  21. Call an old friend out of the blue.

Let me know which one you already practice or intend to adopt this year in the comments section!
