Damilola Olaogun – Lawyer and Founder The Gift Fairy NG

Damilola Olaogun is a lawyer, Founder of The Gift Fairy NG (“TGF”) and the Creative Director of Access Cards Ng, a creative access cards company. She is also a fashion enthusiast and enjoys gourmet cooking.

Damilola always wanted to study law. When she was six years old, she attended the call to bar ceremony of my her aunt and from that day determined to be a lawyer. As she progressed to secondary school, she aligned herself to take subjects that were geared towards law and the arts and thoroughly enjoyed studying them. She was also pretty fascinated with legal TV series like Boston Legal, Law & Order and Suits.

Damilola started TGF – a specialty gift boutique specializing in creative gift styling, gifts for all occasions, home wares, gift concierge, and gift wrapping shortly after her Youth Service programme. She discovered that for a long time, her family and friends always contacted her when they needed  to purchase gifts for people on special occasions. While it was not the first option of business that came to mind, it somehow managed to top all other profitable business ideas she had.

If she had to choose between the time she spent studying law at the University and Law School, Damilola will choose the University as it was more fun and interesting with long breaks and little worries. Law School was an entirely different ball game, it was more about trying to understand the Nigerian legal system within a short time frame. It was an enlightening experience nonetheless

Damilola’s advice to anyone trying to find their purpose or passion is to look inward for something that they enjoy doing, it could be a hobby or something they had considered doing as a child but never thought it as a possibility. In this search for purpose they could seek the opinion of their closest friends as well. When they eventually find what it is, they should commit to it. There would always be people who wouldn’t believe in their vision but they should not be deterred.
