Derin Fagbure – Lawyer and Founder In Black and White

Derin Fagbure had always wanted to study Law since she was three years old and set her eyes on her Aunt’s wig and gown. At the age of 5, she published her first article in Junior Guardian Newspaper. Derin then went on to obtain an LL.M in Corporate Law and is now a columnist in Thisday Lawyer with the column – In Black and White where she expresses her thoughts on areas of law she is passionate about – corporate governance, corporate finance and energy law.

Derin is passionate about entrepreneurs and writes regularly on legal structures for SMEs and has spoken at various business summits and events on the importance of a legal structure towards ensuring business perpetuity. She believes in hard work and hopes to lecture at some point in her life because of her strong belief in the role of mentors in shaping the lives of young professionals.

Beyond her Law degree, Derin is the CEO of Deez accessories, an online store for exquisite affordable jewellery, having turned her hobby into a business.

Her advice for everyone who wants to follow his/her passion and also have a fulfilling legal career is to never lose focus and keep their eyes on the ball.
