Jesse Anatekhai is number 10 of 11 children and his wife is the first and only girl he ever dated.
As if these facts are not interesting enough, Jesse was a science student all through secondary school and always wanted to be a medical doctor. However, towards the end of his secondary school education he had an epiphany to study law. After speaking with a mentor and his private lesson teacher, he sat for all the qualifying examinations again as an arts student and gained admission into the Lagos State University (“LASU”) to study law.
Asides from being a lawyer who specializes in corporate commercial practice, Jesse is also a professional master of ceremonies (“MC”). He started anchoring programmes and shows from his first year in LASU; Jesse attributes this to his great personality and impeccable eloquence.
After graduating from LASU and the Nigerian Law School, Jesse was still inundated with requests to anchor events. It was at this point that he decided to explore his possibilities as an MC fully.
Jesse’s training as a Lawyer has influenced his career as an MC in so many ways. First he set up a corporate entity- CISTREN Communications to run his speaking engagements way back in 2012. Second, he ensures that all correspondence with clients are documented as much as possible. Jesse’s training as a lawyer has also helped his speaking engagements directly – once he had to anchor an event for a client which was chaired by Chief Wole Olanipekun SAN and he spiced his delivery with several legal terms resulting in Chief Olanipekun presenting with a gift after the event for a job well done.
Jesse is an unapologetic believer in mentorship. According to him, his story and life would not be complete without the mentors God placed in his path. Some of his mentors include Deji Ogunnubi, Bimpe Bamgbose-Martins, AkinAdesoji and TejuBabyfaceOyelakin.
When Jesse is not practicing law or handling the microphone , he is either singing with a choir or spending time with his family.
His advice for lawyers who want to follow their passion is to make sure the passion has been experimented before venturing out and find a mentor that mirrors the passion they represent.
