Samuel Famolu is a lawyer and digital strategist. He studied law because it seemed to be the most prestigious option when he was moved to the arts class in senior secondary school. More importantly, other bright students in his class wanted to study law or had parents who were lawyers.
Samuel began his journey to becoming a digital strategist when he volunteered at Kinetic Associates, a consulting firm after Law School. He was thereafter invited to join the training team at Google digital skills.
As a digital strategist, Samuel has trained over 17,000 persons (including corporate bodies and business owners)on digital skills.
Samuel is also the founder of Sabilawyer , a corporate outfit which educates people on legal issues with African stories and provides legal consulting services.
Taking a clarity coaching programme is one experience that positively challenged Samuel to be a better person and lawyer. It helped him get clarity on his skill set and what to do with his skill set for maximum impact.
Ultimately, Samuel’s goal is three pronged. To train as many people as he can to acquire digital skills and help businesses leverage on digital platforms and tools, to bring the law closer to Africans in their daily life using stories via digital platforms and to model a thriving legal practice built on simple digital structures.
Samuel’s advice to persons who want to follow their passion is to follow it with a business sense and to fight ignorance in any form as access to the right information and acting on it makes a huge difference.
In his spare time, he loves to travel, read and swim.
